Rene Chehardy's Biography

0052.jpg

Rene Chehardy was raised in New Orleans, La., with his four siblings. He attended Catholic schools and graduated from the University of New Orleans after two years at LSU in Baton Rouge, La. He started his professional career in New Orleans with a large oil company and remained in oil and gas for 36 years. Beginning in his 20s, he fought his childhood demons of abandonment, anger, fear, entitlement, and sexual lust. Meeting Jesus Christ altered his life’s trajectory, moving him away from a promiscuous lifestyle and becoming a follower of Jesus Christ.

Marrying his second wife, Pat, his stepfamily required skills and emotional and spiritual maturity the author did not possess. However, God is faithful to His children. As he went through various seasons of life, God authored situations, mentors, and friendships that spoke and taught the author how to grow as a man and disciple, healing the wounds of his early childhood. After losing Pat to cancer, he and Cindy participated in a Youth With A Mission Discipleship Training School. They studied in Hawaii for three months and did a three-month outreach to Papua New Guinea. During the six months, Rene’s relationship changed with Father God. It transitioned from a disciple to a personal sonship and friendship. There were three key components to the transition – the enormous value of the cross, the value God places on individuals, and becoming conversant with God. These three linchpins changed the author’s understanding of the Lord’s love for him.

Today, Rene and Cindy reside in Granbury, Texas. They are active with their children, involved in their community, and continue a close relationship with YWAM.
